Ripple invests in ZILO and Licuido as the blockchain payments company expands its capital markets infrastructure on the XRP Ledger.
The company announced on Monday that it had made strategic investments in the two UK-based firms. Ripple did not disclose the financial terms of either transaction. However, it said the deals extend existing partnerships with both companies and support its broader capital markets strategy.
ZILO develops transfer agency and fund administration technology designed to support tokenized assets. Licuido provides infrastructure for issuing, distributing, and executing traditional financial assets as digital collateral.
Ripple Targets Regulated Tokenization Infrastructure
Ripple said the investments will combine the firms’ capabilities with XRPL infrastructure. Together, the two investments connect ledger capabilities with regulated services needed to manage tokenized financial products efficiently. The arrangement is intended to bring regulated transfer agency services, asset issuance, and collateral mobility to capital markets operating on the network.
The announcement builds on a strategy Ripple has developed publicly over recent months. In February, Ripple partnered with Aviva Investors to tokenize fund structures on XRPL. Aviva Investors managed $345 billion in net assets as of 2025.
Nigel Khakoo, Ripple’s senior vice president for trading and markets, said tokenization delivers greater value when digital assets can move across several financial activities.
“ZILO and Licuido provide core capabilities that are essential to further scaling this shift: regulated digital transfer agency infrastructure and liquidity for issuance and collateral mobility,” Khakoo said.
XRPL Upgrade Supports Institutional Finance
Ripple has continued expanding its tokenization activities while preparing XRPL for wider institutional use. The network is approaching another major software upgrade focused on tokenization and institutional finance features.
The xrpld 3.3.0 upgrade is expected to be released next week. Ripple said the planned changes form part of efforts to strengthen the network’s role in regulated financial markets.
The investments in ZILO and Licuido add operational services around the ledger. ZILO contributes transfer agency and fund administration systems, while Licuido supports asset issuance, distribution, execution, and collateral movement.
Ripple Joins UK Tokenization Task Force
Ripple is also among 54 companies participating in a UK government task force focused on expanding tokenization across wholesale financial markets.
The participating firms are expected to develop live, end-to-end market use cases. Their work will begin with tokenized repurchase agreements over the next 12 months.
Other task force members include Circle, Coinbase, BlackRock, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, and Morgan Stanley. The group brings together digital asset companies, investment managers, and major financial institutions.
Ripple’s participation connects its XRPL capital markets work with the wider UK initiative. Its investments in ZILO and Licuido provide regulated infrastructure for transfer agency, issuance, liquidity, and collateral mobility as the task force develops tokenized market applications.
