The recent raid in Paraguay by the Anti-Kidnapping Department (DAS) resulted in the successful arrest of several individuals involved in the crime. It unveiled a shocking discovery of 300 stolen Bitcoin (BTC) mining rigs.
In April, these mining rigs were stolen at the Arimar farm in the Alfredo Pla neighborhood of Presidente Franco, Alto Parana. A group of twelve armed individuals, their faces concealed by hoods, carried out the audacious act of stealing 492 mining machines.
This month, the DAS took decisive action and raided a commercial property in Presidente Franco. The operation proved a resounding success as they seized 300 mining rigs from the premises.
A significant assortment of cellular devices, firearms, and ammunition were also recovered during the operation. The diligent efforts of law enforcement led to the arrest and charging of a single individual for aggravated assault.
The recovery of the remaining 192 stolen mining rigs is still a top priority for the police, who are diligently working on the case. It is believed that a group of approximately twelve individuals, their identities concealed by hoods, meticulously planned and executed the theft.
The incident occurred at the Alto Paraná farm, where the assailants launched a calculated attack and successfully made off with the stolen mining rigs. The police are actively investigating to apprehend the perpetrators and locate the missing equipment.
Interestingly, when the police apprehended the criminal, they discovered that the 300 Bitcoin mining machines that were recovered were actively connected to a power outlet and the internet.
Despite numerous appeals and efforts by the Paraguay government, the president remains staunchly opposed to authorizing BTC mining in the country. This has posed significant challenges to the government’s attempts to persuade the president.
Paraguay’s abundant hydroelectric power is a significant driving force attracting numerous BTC miners to the country.
During the operation, the authorities confiscated weapons and ammunition found at the scene, and they managed to apprehend an individual named Arnaldo Ohe Martínez, who has been positively identified. Additionally, the owner of the farm, Víctor Meaurio, has also been positively identified in connection with the case.
