The CASH tool, which enables the issuance of stablecoins on Stripe, was launched on Phantom as part of its New York product rollout.
The company launched Open Issuance, an open-source project based on Bridge technology, which was acquired by Stripe last year for $1.1 billion. The tool will enable businesses to create their own stablecoins, issue and redeem them with minimal coding.
Stripe pushes into stablecoins and AI
Will Gaybrick, the President of Technology and Business at Stripe, said the company’s mission is to bring emerging technologies into the mainstream. Over the past year, the total supply of stablecoins has increased by 57%, providing businesses with new opportunities. Under Open Issuance, companies can issue stablecoins tailored to their specific needs, retaining control of the tokens and offering rewards to customers.
BlackRock, Fidelity Investments, and Superstate manage treasuries on the platform, while Lead Bank holds cash for use in the event of liquidity needs. As Stripe observed, tokens issued via Open Issuance are completely interoperable with Bridge, which is governed by an orchestration API that offers low-cost conversions to other stablecoins.
When CASH was launched, Phantom became the first issuer of a token on Open Issuance. Stripe also assured that mUSD on MetaMask and USDH on Native Markets will soon be added. The company has introduced an Optimized Checkout Suite that enables businesses to accept recurring transactions and balances by default, as well as stablecoin payments. Users can also exchange fiat and stablecoins, spend money using local cards, and transfer tokens worldwide.
Launch of Agentic Commerce Protocol
A new feature of Stripe is also AI-based payments, known as the Agentic Commerce Protocol. The protocol was built in OpenAI and is already included in ChatGPT, allowing you to check it out instantly. ACP establishes a common infrastructure between AI agents and merchants, allowing businesses to sell through AI channels with a single integration.
The open standard design will enable ACP to operate with various AI agents, even when a company is not using the Stripe payment network. The system is already being tested with partners including Microsoft Copilot, Anthropix, Perplexity, Vercel, Replit, and others. According to Stripe, the idea is to equip the business with emerging forms of agentic commerce.
New products in payments and billing
Stripe introduced several products alongside Open Issuance and ACP. Stripe Billing offers hybrid pricing features, which combine subscription and usage-based pricing. The new API will enable companies to connect with large language model providers and monitor inference costs in real-time.
The company also introduced an app-to-web payment flow, which redirects iOS app users to Stripe Checkout. Its online wallet, Link, is now available with Buy-Now-Pay-Later services using Klarna. Stripe Tax has gone on to support the compliance of 102 different countries, whereas Stripe Radar has provided defense against new forms of fraud, including free trial abuse.
