Solana-based game Nyan Heroes unveiled its biggest airdrop yet on Thursday as the project eyes its return to the Epic Games store. The airdrop will feature a giveaway worth $200,000, with the project giving away 6.7 million NYAN tokens in its playtest 4 event.
The airdrop will run from March 26 to April 13, marking a 34% increase from its previous airdrop. The top ranked player will get at least 250,000 NYAN tokens.
The distribution is based on a three-tiered reward structure designed by Asimakis Reppa, former EVE Online economy director. It includes Challenger, Leaderboard, and Genesis NFT tiers.
The Challenger Tier rewards players for regularly completing daily and weekly missions. The Leaderboard Tier is for rewarding big prizes for players at higher ranks. The holders of Genesis NFT will get multipliers to increase points depending on rarity.
While players can earn points for their exploits in the game, they can also earn points by inviting friends and performing other web tasks. The game features a cat in a powered suit and has already racked up the numbers on the Epic Games store. According to Epic Games, it is a “mobility-focused game with classes having a variety of movement options that many modern shooters simply don’t offer.”
Solana-based game unveils new features
The new playtest 4 will feature a new hero named Coco. Coco shoots turrets at enemies, using scrap left behind to power up its suit. Using its mech named Gizmo, Coco can create floating platforms, with the main feature of the mech transforming into a giant version of itself. The mech throws explosives at enemies and gives its allies armor.
The CEO of the game, Max Fu said, “Gizmo will shake up the meta by protecting his team and providing easier access to high ground, favoring strategic positions, and introducing new levels of protection and vertical control.” The play test is also expected to debut an additional game mode which is inspired by COD’s uplink.
Fu mentioned that players will be required to use a distraction mechanism to protect their carrier. “Unique to Nyan Heroes is the fact that the ball carrier can still shoot (but not use their ultimates) to help turn the tide of battle,” he said. Furthermore, there will be a new Tokyo-themed map. According to the game’s lore, the city was the last one Nyans defended against the feral robot Guardians, the villains in the game. However, the Nyans had lost the fight. Now, Nyans are training to recover the city struck by destruction.
The map is designed for vertical spaces where Nyans will fight, the developers mentioned that the map increases the gameplay as it suits the new hero and game mode. Aside from the updates, the playtest is expected to increase the game’s HUD and other features as well as a secondary weapon. In-chat texts are also expected to be improved.
