Billionaire and co-founder of Airbnb Joe Gebbia will become the latest addition to Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (D.O.G.E). The billionaire becomes the newest addition to the agency, as he intends to continue to cut waste in government.
However, it remains unclear what role he will play. According to a report by The New York Times, Gebbia will join the agency, citing a source related to the matter.
Joe Gebbia joins DOGE
Joe Gebbia has seen his political beliefs evolve over the last few years, especially related to Republicanism due to his admiration for Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is his political ally. He was in attendance at Kennedy’s confirmation hearing, noting that it was a food day for health in America.
Gebbia mentioned that he supported Trump in this election, even though he has always been pro-Democrat since Al Gore in 2000. “I did a bad thing. Something the younger me would hate myself for doing. Something that only a few people (and maybe ByteDance) know: I voted Republican last November,” he said.
Gebbia has also shown respect for Musk’s work at the agency, noting that the “historic corporate turnaround is about to take place: DOGE.” He also hailed Trump’s impact at DOGE this week, hailing him for spotting the $80 million that FEMA sent to New York City to house immigrants.
