Binance.US prediction market plans are moving forward as the exchange prepares to seek approval for an event contracts platform.
Chief Executive Stephen Gregory said during a Rare Evo panel in Las Vegas that the company expects to apply for a designated contract market license next month.
Approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission would allow Binance.US to offer regulated futures, options, and event contracts to retail customers. Crypto America host Eleanor Terrett described the filing as part of a comeback strategy focused on lower fees, product expansion, perpetuals, prediction markets, and compliance controls.
Binance.US Rebuilds After Regulatory Setbacks
Gregory took over as chief executive this year as Binance.US sought to rebuild revenue and restore its position in the crypto market. The platform has introduced near-zero trading fees and announced plans to expand into derivatives while pursuing more domestic trading activity.
Its market position weakened after 2023, when Binance Holdings reached a $4.3 billion settlement with federal agencies after admitting violations of banking laws. Former Binance chief Changpeng Zhao served four months in prison before receiving a pardon from President Donald Trump.
Zhao remains the majority owner of Binance.US and has supported its American expansion. He has maintained that his role is technical.
“We want to do much more business in the US. We want to bring a superior product into the US. We want to make the superior product offering much more accessible to the US consumer,” Zhao said.
Prediction Markets Attract More Exchange Interest
Prediction markets allow customers to trade contracts linked to real-world outcomes. Their availability in the United States has expanded following legal victories involving event contracts, drawing interest from financial firms and traders.
Binance.US would compete with Kalshi and Polymarket if it receives CFTC approval. Gemini has also obtained a license, while Coinbase has partnered with Kalshi to provide event contracts to American users.
A Binance.US spokesperson said the company aims to become the leading domestic platform for buying, trading, and earning crypto assets. The exchange is focusing on new products while adjusting its services to meet customer needs.
Robinhood Explores Crypto.com Partnership
Robinhood Markets is reportedly considering an agreement to list Crypto.com prediction contracts on its application. The Wall Street Journal reported that talks may not produce a final deal.
Robinhood currently sources event contracts from Kalshi, ForecastEx, and Rothera. Its share of Kalshi volume has declined since Rothera was added.
Trading on Robinhood exceeded 16 billion event contracts this year, compared with more than 12 billion during 2025. Kalshi chief Tarek Mansour called Robinhood a major rival in June despite their partnership.
Kalshi continues to lead the United States market. World Cup betting volume reached $27 billion, compared with $1 billion for the Super Bowl. Sports generated 80% of customer order flow across Kalshi and Polymarket during the tournament.
