Tesla launched its Cybercab service in Austin on Thursday, starting paid customer rides in a purpose-built, driverless two-seater with no steering wheel or pedals through the company’s Robotaxi app. The launch will represent the very first time Tesla’s specially built autonomous vehicle will take paying passengers, and brings Elon Musk’s long-promised robotaxi service vision into operation in a real-life scenario

The launch took place at an invite-only event in Austin, where Tesla gave a select group of influencers and loyal customers the first rides in its Cybercabs. Axios described the vehicle as a gold-painted model featuring gull-wing doors, with no conventional mirrors, steering wheel or pedals. Tesla is positioning the Cybercab’s interior as more than just a space for transportation, with entertainment built into the passenger experience. A promotional video released by the company showcased theater, music and gaming apps accessible via a 22-inch touchscreen.

Tesla promises to equip future models with enough connectivity

Tesla also claimed future models would be equipped with V5 Starlink hardware to ensure full connectivity. Robotaxi customers will be able to book Cybercab rides via Tesla’s dedicated ride-hailing app, with ordering processes designed very similarly to order ride-hailing services like Uber, Lyft or Waymo. Texas has registered just 45 Cybercabs so far, a tiny fraction of the 420 robotaxis Tesla has in operation across the state.

Most of those vehicles are conventional Model Y cars equipped with the company’s Full Self-Driving software, meaning the majority of customers requesting a ride will not yet be picked up in the new steering-wheel-free Cybercab. The company has built production capacity for up to 125,000 Cybercabs annually, while Musk has said Tesla ultimately plans to produce the vehicles at a scale of millions. The gap between the CEO’s vision and reality remains very wide, however.

Reaching the targeted Cybercab production levels could present Tesla with regulatory challenges at the federal level. Tesla appears willing to certify the Cybercab as compliant with existing regulations instead of attempting to seek an exemption from safety requirements that the unconventional vehicle design may not meet. The approach could help Tesla avoid any production limits associated with the exemption process, which would give the company much greater flexibility to increase Cybercab manufacturing significantly.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which does not pre-approve vehicles or new technology, has said Tesla has filed a no-exemption request and that the agency “is in touch with the company and is monitoring the situation.” Tesla is also seeking outside investment to expand its robotaxi network. On Thursday, the company opened an application form inviting individuals and entrepreneurs to purchase Cybercab fleets for commercial use or develop the hubs and infrastructure needed to service them, under the pitch, “Help us build our Robotaxi network.” The vehicles, however, are not yet available for purchase by the general public.

The post Tesla takes driverless Cybercab rides to Austin first appeared on Coinfea.

Samsung Electronics has asked its equipment suppliers to secure safety certification for tools headed to a second chip plant in Taylor, Texas. Samsung is attempting to fast-track the build schedule despite the factory’s specifications not yet being set.

The company is willing to run to hit a 2030 production date while AI chip demand continues to outstrip supply. Samsung Electronics is asking its equipment suppliers for a SEMI certification, which is a standard industry safety check that equipment must pass before it can be shipped to another country. Suppliers typically start the certification process only after a factory’s specifications are finalized, but Samsung has told several of its tool suppliers to obtain this certification ahead of the launch of the planned second chip plant in Taylor, Texas, to save time for faster installation later.

Samsung wants to hit a 2030 production date

Concrete plans for the factory are expected to become clearer by the end of the year, with production expected by 2030. The first Taylor factory already has Tesla as a major customer. Tesla signed a foundry contract worth about 22.76 trillion Korean won ($14.09 billion) with Samsung last year. The contract revived the Taylor timeline, which had been delayed several times due to weak demand and a lack of customers.

The first factory is set to open this year and will start trial production as early as next month, focusing on 2-nanometer production. The second factory is yet to have a customer of its own. According to industry sources, the second factory’s timeline depends on whether Tesla expands its orders or a new large customer signs up. Samsung’s construction unit, Samsung E&A, is reportedly preparing to send dozens of staff to the Taylor site to support the work.

In an interview, the mayor of Taylor, Jim Buzan, said that Samsung “put in the piers and foundation” for the second plant while it was still building the first. The mayor said Samsung “preplanned it several years back,” and shared that he expects this head start to let Samsung move faster on the second factory than it did on the first. Samsung’s reported figures put its initial minimum Taylor investment at $17 billion, its biggest ever in the United States.

The company has owned the land for its Taylor chip site since 2021, and has it zoned for as many as 10 factories. Around 100 Samsung employees have already moved to Taylor, and the total number of newcomers is likely to reach several hundred once partner company staff arrive. Mayor Buzan said Samsung has not received any of the $4.745 billion in CHIPS and Science Act money awarded to it in 2024.

The post Samsung keen on expansion with US Taylor factory acceleration first appeared on Coinfea.

Tesla stock jumped by 3% on Friday morning, a reaction to a report that the auto manufacturer plans to unveil its long-awaited Roadster, with flying capabilities, in August. Tesla shares have been on a downward trend throughout 2026, so this news lands as a welcome development for investors.

It is left to Tesla to keep its promise and deliver the Roadster. As of this Cryptopolitan report, Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) traded at $350.34. It increased by 3% from Thursday’s close of $339.96. Now its shares are trading between $342.01 and $351.10; however, it is still way below its high of $498.83 and is closer to its low of $297.38 in 2026 for the year. Tesla currently has a market capitalization of $1.10 trillion.

Roadster rumor fuel Tesla stock surge

All of this began with a report by Grace Kay from The Information. In the report, she claims that Tesla is about to launch a redesigned next-gen Roadster. One of the big takeaways from the report was that the new reveal could be unveiled before August ends, and the redesign would include flying capabilities, which will be tested at Tesla’s site in McGregor, Texas.

Musk has previously teased the release of a flying car. Days before the report broke, Musk tweeted, “flying cars are coming.” Also, Tesla, for a couple of years, has teased a SpaceX cold gas thruster package that will let the car hover or briefly leave the ground. An old video clip of Musk teasing the Roadster went viral on X. The upcoming launch was tagged “unforgettable” by the poster. Musk simply replied, “Yes.”

Skeptics would be well within their rights not to be excited. And this is not without reason. The Roadster is still in the design development phase, and Tesla has floated a lot of release dates in the past years, without meeting any. In July 2025, Lars Moravy, VP of vehicle engineering at Tesla, stated the Roadster was “definitely in development,” but no car has come out to date. Tesla’s dwindling stock price cannot be ignored either. It has dropped by 26% as competition with BYD and Xiaomi stiffens.

The post Tesla stock jumps amid reports of ‘flying roadster reveal first appeared on Coinfea.

Binance has announced the launch of what it describes as the SPCXUSDT Pre-IPO perpetual futures contract hours after SpaceX announced listing on Nasdaq. Currently, it is expected to lie between $1.75 to $2 trillion when it launches. Binance contracts are using USDT margin and allowing leverage up to 5x.

As the product is synthetic, which means no real ownership, traders are only getting exposure to price swings. While markets await the IPO, the prices of the contract are based on investor sentiment derived from private investment rounds, trades among existing shareholders, and the information in SpaceX’s S-1 regulatory filing. After the IPO happens, Binance SPCXUSDT begins tracking the public share price directly. Trading opened at $206 and climbed to $224. It settled down around $208 at the time of writing.

Binance introduces users to a new IPO market

Elon Musk’s space venture has recently made its public offering intentions clear through updated SEC documents, as reported by Cryptopolitan. The company will be listed on Nasdaq with the ticker SPCX. Musk already has one company on the exchange, Tesla, which means he’ll be running two publicly traded operations, each approaching trillion-dollar territory, after the SpaceX IPO scheduled for June 8.

The public filing also shows Musk’s voting control reaches 85% through a combination of 849.5 million Class A shares and 5.57 billion Class B shares. No one else, person or organization, besides Musk owns more than 5%. The barrier for regular investors to get exposure to an IPO like SpaceX has fallen. Usually, they would need accredited investor credentials or ties to venture capital circles. Binance is not the first one to give that opportunity.

Hyperliquid, OKX, and Bitget are also offering their own SpaceX pre-IPO offerings. However, what Binance brings is scale. As the biggest crypto exchange globally, it offers liquidity and retail access that smaller platforms can’t duplicate. Anyone with a Binance account can now take a position well ahead of when IPO shares become available. Investors eyeing SpaceX’s eventual stock market debut may want to look at the numbers first, as early betting on the shares comes with serious pitfalls.

Trading in pre-IPO contracts carries dangers that regular investments don’t. Prices can swing far from what shares actually sell for when the company finally lists. Borrowed money makes losses hurt more. These contracts don’t come with shareholder perks like dividends or voting power. Jay Ritter, who runs the IPO program at the University of Florida, tracked roughly 9,300 companies that went public on major U.S. exchanges from 1980 through 2025. First-day trading typically pushed prices up 19% on average.

But the honeymoon doesn’t last. Looking at the ten biggest American IPOs, which include Alibaba, Meta, Uber, and Rivian, the pattern is clear. Three months after going public, these stocks had dropped by a median of 10%. After a full year, the median loss hit 31%. The bigger the launch, the harder the fall once the buzz dies down. Even the most recent hot IPO can be taken as such an example. Cerebras Systems dropped 4.0% during afternoon trading, hitting $291.51 after reaching a high of $338.

The post Binance launches trades on Wall Street’s biggest IPO before it goes public first appeared on Coinfea.

Elon Musk is on the verge of earning another $1 trillion pay package after the SpaceX board approved a comprehensive plan to give him a massive super-voting stock. However, there are conditions attached to the bumper pay package.

According to reports, Elon Musk will earn the compensation if SpaceX reaches a $7.5 trillion valuation, puts a permanent human population on Mars, and builds space-based data centers with compute power so large it sounds like something only this company would put in paperwork. The plan was shown inside SpaceX’s private registration filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in recent weeks.

SpaceX board approves new pay package for Elon Musk

SpaceX is still privately held, but it is preparing for a possible IPO around June 28, which is coincidentally Elon’s birthday, at a possible value of about $1.75 trillion. That alone is expected to push the company into the same weight class as the biggest public names, while Tesla (TSLA) shareholders also watch the same CEO chase another huge award outside the electric vehicle business. The largest part gives Elon up to 200 million restricted shares.

Aside from hitting the valuation, SpaceX claims that the human settlement population on Mars should be around 1 million. The filing turns a Mars dream into a corporate pay target. No vague hype. No soft language. It puts a population number beside a valuation number and links both to Elon’s stock award. A second part of the package gives Elon as many as 60.4 million restricted shares from an award dated March 23.

That part depends on separate company value targets and SpaceX running data centers in outer space that can provide at least 100 terawatts of computing power. That power figure is massive. 100 terawatts equals 100,000 gigawatts, or about 100,000 nuclear reactors of one gigawatt each running at the same time. Both stock awards use Class B restricted shares. Each Class B share carries 10 votes, while each Class A share carries 1 vote. That gives the package a control angle, not just a money angle. The shares vest in parts as SpaceX grows in value.

Elon gets none of those shares if SpaceX fails to hit the board’s targets. The plan does not have a calendar deadline, except that he must keep working at the company. Since 2019, SpaceX has paid him a yearly salary of $54,080. SpaceX cannot place a clean dollar value on the package yet because its shares do not trade publicly. Elon already held 68.8 million Class B stock options as of December 31. Those earlier options have a strike price of about $42 and expire in 2031, so any gain above that price belongs to him if he exercises them before they lapse.

However, it is expected that the SpaceX award may create friction between SpaceX investors and Tesla shareholders. Elon runs both companies, and corporate governance experts have warned that investors may question how much attention each business gets when both have giant targets attached to him. SpaceX is also ending a separate fight in California. The development comes as the California Coastal Commission apologized to Elon’s rocket company and settled a lawsuit filed after SpaceX accused the agency of political bias against the company and its chief executive.

The post SpaceX board approves $1 trillion pay package for Elon Musk first appeared on Coinfea.

Tesla has announced plans to restart the development of Dojo. According to Elon Musk, the company is restarting the project now that the AI5 chip design is finally “in good shape.”

“Tesla will restart work on Dojo3. If you’re interested in working on what will be the highest volume chips in the world, send a note to AI_Chips@Tesla.com with 3 bullet points on the toughest technical problems you’ve solved,” Elon said in a post on X. This is the first time, since the project shutdown last year, that Elon has publicly committed to bringing Dojo back. Dojo was Tesla’s bet on building its own supercomputer to train the machine-learning systems behind Autopilot, Full Self-Driving, and the Optimus robot.

Tesla moves ahead with A15 amid hints at chip convergence

Last week, Elon said AI5 was “almost done.” He also said AI6 was already in early development. That chip, unlike AI5, won’t be built in-house. Tesla is leaning on Samsung Electronics for production. The two companies signed a $16.5 billion agreement last year to supply AI chips through 2033. The deal is a big win for Samsung’s chip foundry, which handles outsourced production.

A new facility in Texas will handle the manufacturing of the AI6 chip, giving Tesla another production hub outside Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., its usual supplier. During Tesla’s Q2 2025 earnings call, Elon said the company was now thinking about merging the Dojo3 chip with the AI6 design. “Thinking about Dojo3 and the AI6 inference chip, it seems like intuitively, we want to try to find convergence there, where it’s basically the same chip,” he said.

The move signalled a turn from Tesla’s earlier approach, which focused on keeping everything in-house. The change is also tied to doubts Elon voiced earlier in 2024. “We’re pursuing the dual path of Nvidia and Dojo,” he said in January. “I would think of Dojo as a long shot. It’s a long shot worth taking because the payoff is potentially very high. But it’s not highly probable. It’s not like a sure thing at all.”

That uncertainty seemed to hang over the whole Dojo project until now. Dojo originally ran on a custom D1 chip built inside Tesla. The system ingested camera data from vehicles, processed it fast, and was meant to train models that run Tesla’s self-driving and robotics systems. Back in 2023, analysts at Morgan Stanley said Dojo might eventually add $500 billion to Tesla’s market cap.

While it never happened, the company shelved the project in 2025 after losing several top engineers. Milan Kovac, head of engineering for Optimus, and David Lau, Tesla’s vice president of software engineering, both quit in 2025. Omead Afshar, one of Elon’s closest aides, also left the company that June.

The post Tesla set to restart Dojo3 development after chip breakthrough first appeared on Coinfea.

Chinese tech firm Xiaomi has announced plans to deliver 550,000 electric vehicles in 2026, lifting its target after selling 410,000 units in 2025.

The figure represents a 34% increase as the company pushes deeper into China’s crowded EV market and lines up overseas expansion. Billionaire founder Lei Jun announced the goal during a livestream on Saturday, setting expectations for the next phase of the car business. The EV unit turned profitable in November, around 18 months after the first electric sedan hit the road. That timeline landed faster than Tesla, which took years to reach the same point.

Xiaomi plans 550,000 EV deliveries in 2026 amid regulatory pressure

The profit news did little to calm markets. The stock ranked among the worst-performing Chinese tech names last year as concerns grew around overcapacity, soft demand, and tighter conditions across the EV sector, according to Bloomberg.

In addition, two serious accidents involving the Xiaomi SU7 triggered calls for tougher oversight. The incidents pushed regulators to act. China released draft rules and new standards covering advanced driver assistance systems, door handle design, and battery safety. These changes landed as scrutiny rose around software control and physical build choices in new electric models.

Despite that pressure, attention around the vehicles kept spreading beyond China. Karl-Thomas Neumann, former Volkswagen China chief executive, said the SU7 Ultra performance version was a “crying loud warning sign” for Western carmakers. Tech reviewer Marques Brownlee also weighed in, calling the sedan’s software integration “awesome.” The comments circulated as the company prepared its next steps outside the domestic market.

Xiaomi also plans to widen its lineup by up to four new launches and refreshes, featuring a five-seat model and a seven-seat extended-range SUV. Xiaomi’s extended-range vehicles reportedly carry a small gasoline engine that recharges the battery once power runs low, without full reliance on charging stations. Moreover, in May, Lei announced the Xring O1, a 3-nanometer processor designed for devices such as the Tablet 7 Ultra, promising to target performance levels seen in products from Apple and Qualcomm.

The post Xiaomi makes EV deliveries pledge for 2026 first appeared on Coinfea.

Tesla has made it into the top 10 most reliable car brands for the first time in its history. According to reports, the company hit a new record, which was revealed in the latest Consumer Reports ranking. In the report, Tether now holds the 9th position out of the 26 car brands, after being ranked 17th last year, and 27th in 2022.

According to Consumer Reports, the steady rise in its rankings was because Tesla kept making the same cars long enough to get better at it. The rankings were based on survey responses from about 380,000 vehicles, a rise of 27% from 2024. However, the improvement in its rankings does not mean that Tesla has been able to solve all its problems, with its electrically controlled door still a major problem.

Tesla moves up reliability rankings due to its older models

According to a Bloomberg investigation, more than 400 complaints have been filed against car makers with United States regulators, with Tesla being the most mentioned brand. However, those recurring issues didn’t occur enough to affect its reliability score. Jake Fisher, senior director at Consumer Reports, said the reliability score had nothing to do with innovation.

Fisher claimed that Tesla has not changed much, noting that it is the main reason why things have improved. “With Tesla, it’s not that they’ve suddenly changed, but the issue is that they’ve been building vehicles in the same plant that are very similar for a while now, and they’re able to improve them,” Jake said. The pattern is evident in its Model S, which has been around since 2011.

“The Tesla Model S is a dinosaur in the world of redesign,” Jake said. “To have a vehicle that’s going to soldier on without a full redesign is unheard of in the industry, but it’s helping them.” Still, not all models performed the same. The Cyber trick, which is the newest on the lineup, is the only Tesla vehicle below the average reliability score.

That reliability surge also pushed Tesla into the top 10 of Consumer Reports’ automotive report card, which includes more than just reliability. It factors in road testing, safety, and customer satisfaction. This year, Tesla took the 10th spot out of 31 brands, moving up from 17th. The last time it cracked that list was in 2018, when it came in eighth. While Tesla climbed, Rivian slid close to the bottom.

Rivian moved five spots down to 26th, but Fisher claimed that its reliability remains the lowest of all the brands tested. Despite that, Rivian owners are some of the most satisfied based on Consumer Reports’ surveys. During a webinar with the Automotive Press Association, Fisher claimed that it is probably because Rivian drivers are early adopters who are okay with flaws.

Other carmakers recorded mixed fortunes. Ford’s Lincoln made the biggest jump this year. It jumped 17 places to No. 7, while Audi saw the biggest drop, falling 10 spots to No. 16. Legacy American brands like Jeep, GMC, Dodge, Land Rover, and Alfa Romeo filled out the bottom of the list. GM’s best-performing brand was Cadillac at No. 17, followed by Buick at No. 20, Chevrolet at No. 24, and GMC at No. 29.

The post Tesla hits its highest consumer reliability score ever first appeared on Coinfea.

Tesla has posted one of its worst months in Europe. According to reports from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), sales dropped to about 6,964 units in October, a development that represents a 48.5% drop from the same time in 2024.

The development represents the company’s 10th straight monthly decline in Europe, a fate that seemed not to affect other companies in the region. Reports noted that the total electric vehicle registrations across Europe (covering the UK and the European Free Trade Association) jumped by 32.9%.

In addition, total car registrations across all types also went up by 4.9%. EVs now hold a 16.4% share of Europe’s auto market. Tesla? Just 1.6%, down from 2.4% a year ago. The newer Model Y couldn’t reverse the trend. Neither could the hype. Blame it on surging Chinese competition or on Elon Musk’s fading reputation across European markets. Whatever it is, Tesla’s not winning here anymore.

Tesla slumps as Chinese rivals move to take charge

The year-to-date numbers tell a worse story. In the first 10 months of the year, Tesla sold 180,688 units, which represents a 29.6% fall from last year. Meanwhile, China’s BYD exploded into the scene with a 207% sales surge, hitting 17,470 units sold in Europe. Another Chinese brand, SAIC, wasn’t far behind, clocking in nearly 24,000 vehicles, up 46% year-on-year.

Tesla’s dominance is dropping really fast, and its rivals are not slowing down. Despite all this, the stock remained unshaken. On Monday, Tesla shares jumped nearly 7%, a move that was attributed to Wall Street’s purchase. They are not buying it for the cars, but for its software, the AI, and the dream of autonomy. Melius Research called Tesla a “must own,” not because of sales charts, but because it thinks self-driving is coming soon.

Analyst Rob Wertheimer wrote: “One of the reasons we called Tesla a ‘must own’ in our recent launch — despite all the obvious risks — is that the world is about to change dramatically. Autonomy is coming very soon, and it will change everything about the driving ecosystem.” The latest version of Tesla’s full self-driving software (FSD) is out in the US and a few other areas.

However, it is still not available in Europe, but that might change in February. The Dutch RDW automotive regulator confirmed Tesla has a slot to demonstrate FSD next year. It hasn’t been approved yet. But if it passes, it could be a major shift for Tesla’s European play. That one green light could help stop the bleeding.

The post Tesla Europe registrations slide 48% amid bad October performance first appeared on Coinfea.

Tesla has told its suppliers to exclude parts made in China when manufacturing its vehicles. The United States-China tensions have resulted in major disruptions across many industries, leading companies to seek stable supply chains.

Tesla is now asking its US-based suppliers to avoid using parts manufactured in China for vehicles made in the United States. Tesla has reportedly already replaced some of the China-made components in its cars and plans to phase out the rest within the next year or two.

One of the reasons for this change is the uncertainty around tariffs and trade policy between the US and China. In addition, Tesla is looking to strengthen and stabilize its supply chain after its experience with pandemic-related disruption. The tension between Washington and Beijing is also forcing companies to “de-risk” by reducing dependence on China.

Tesla orders suppliers to stop using China-made parts for US cars

One of Tesla’s battery suppliers, Panasonic Energy, has reportedly made reducing China exposure its main objective for its US-made batteries. Other major automakers, like General Motors, have issued instructions to suppliers, with GM reportedly telling its suppliers to stop sourcing from China. GM says it has a goal to end many of those ties by 2027.

Automakers active in the US markets are looking to stop reliance on Chinese products and usage in their vehicles, but some of those components are especially difficult to substitute. For example, China-based firms dominate the battery material industry. Tesla’s suppliers will need to find alternatives for parts like lithium-ion battery materials, printed circuit boards, and electronic control units.

Another problem with this strategy is that it drives up costs for suppliers that move production or source away from China. It could also require major reengineering. Tesla may have to rely more on suppliers in North America, Southeast Asia, or elsewhere. So far, Tesla has yet to clarify which remaining parts are most dependent on China, or how quickly all replacements will be made.

Swapping suppliers or reworking manufacturing could also affect the quality of the EV maker’s products and production speed. All of that will be Elon Musk’s headache now as he attempts to lead the EV maker into the next phase of its growth, where he could unlock a bumper and equally controversial $1 trillion pay package.

The post Tesla set to scrap parts made in China in US auto supply first appeared on Coinfea.
