Hong Kong Financial Secretary Paul Chan bumped up its economic forecast for 2025 to 3.2%, a jump from what officials predicted earlier this year.

Chan plans to maintain this upward trend by strengthening the city’s role across areas such as finance, technology, and trade. Earlier in February, he had estimated growth would land between 2% and 3%.

Hong Kong sees record year in stock listings

Hong Kong led the world in new stock listings this year, and authorities want more companies from Southeast Asia and the Middle East to list on the exchange. Chan noted in a recent blog post that the city will encourage broader worldwide acceptance of China’s currency. The plan places a significant priority on technological advancement.

To remain competitive globally, Hong Kong plans to grow its biotech and artificial intelligence sectors. Authorities are equally committed to helping Chinese businesses expand into foreign markets by utilizing Hong Kong’s position as a center for regional trade. “Looking into next year, Hong Kong’s economy is expected to keep the good trend of growth,” Chan said. “Finance, tech innovation, and trade will be Hong Kong’s key engines of growth as the city actively embraces China’s development strategy.”

The Hang Seng Index climbed 30 percent this year, making it one of the top-performing stock markets worldwide. Chan pointed to strong exports, active spending on buildings and equipment, and improving consumer spending as reasons the city did better than expected. To improve its financial center status, Hong Kong will make its stock market more competitive and grow trading in bonds, money markets, fintech, commodities, and gold.

Chan called AI a “core industry” for the future, saying the technology will determine how competitive economies are and change the global economy. The city is building a new center for managing cross-border supply chains and trade financing to help Chinese companies grow their international business.

The post Hong Kong makes 3.2% growth prediction for next year first appeared on Coinfea.

Palantir saw its stock PLTR plummet yesterday, closing November deep in the red with a 17% plunge. The fall represents the stock’s worst monthly fall since August 2023, according to data from CNBC.

The crash came as investors pulled money from AI-linked stocks over rising fears around rich prices after famous shorter Michael Burry disclosed a $900 million short position on the Peter Thiel-backed company. Burry had accused hyperscalers of artificially boosting earnings tied to the AI trade.

Palantir CEO remains upbeat despite stock slump

Palantir CEO Alex Karp appeared twice in one week on CNBC and responded to Burry by straight-up accusing him of market manipulation, and calling the investor’s actions “egregious.” “The idea that chips and ontology are what you want to short is bats— crazy,” Karp said. He continued to defend the company in a letter to shareholders.

Karp noted that the company now gives everyday investors access to returns once “limited to the most successful venture capitalists in Palo Alto.” On the earnings call, he added, “Please turn on the conventional television and see how unhappy those who didn’t invest in us are. Enjoy, get some popcorn. They’re crying. We are every day making this company better, and we’re doing it for this nation, for allied countries.”

Palantir did not start November on a bad note, as it opened the month with strong earnings. Cryptopolitan reported that Palantir beat Wall Street’s third-quarter revenue and profit estimates, delivering its second straight $1 billion revenue quarter. Sadly, valuation concerns took over after the results, and the stock dropped, and traders moved to cut risk.

Soon after the earnings drop, Jefferies sent a note to clients on November 6 saying the valuation of Palantir was “extreme” and saying that traders would find better risk and reward in other AI names such as Microsoft and Snowflake. RBC Capital Markets followed with its own note the very next day, pointing to Palantir’s “increasingly concentrated growth profile.”

Deutsche Bank also jumped in to call the company’s valuation “very difficult to wrap our heads around.” Even as shares stayed weak, Palantir still announced new business in November, signing a multi-year contract with PwC aimed at speeding up AI adoption in the U.K. It also closed a deal with FTAI, a company that works in aircraft engine maintenance. The deals brought fresh activity to the business but failed to slow the selling tied to valuation fears that stayed fixed across the AI market.

The post Palantir stock crashes 17% in November first appeared on Coinfea.

Robert Kiyosaki, the author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, is in the news again after predicting that the economic crash he talked about in his popular book is due to happen in 2025. Kiyosaki has been one of the loudest doom-callers in the financial world for decades, and his latest comments have triggered an avalanche of comments from his X followers, who have since been tackling him.

If Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad’s prophecy is to be believed, the “biggest stock market crash in history” is either already imminent or could potentially escalate into a “Greater Depression.” In a recent post on X, he reminded his followers about how he “predicted the biggest crash in world history was coming” in “Rich Dad’s Prophecy.”

Robert Kiyosaki predicts an incoming economic catastrophe

In his post, he said, “That crash will happen this year.” “Baby Boom Retirements are going to be wiped out. Many boomers will be homeless or living in their kids’ basements. Sad.” Kiyosaki proceeded to remind them again about how he has warned everyone to invest in only “real assets” and not printed assets.

“For years I have been saying save gold, silver, Bitcoin, and recently Ethereum,” he wrote. “Today I believe silver and Ethereum are the best because they are stores of value…but more importantly….used in industry….and prices are low.” He urged readers to “study pros and cons and usefulness of silver and Ethereum” before investing. “That’s how you elevate your own financial intelligence and get richer,” he concluded.

2025 has only a couple of months left, but Kiyosaki is saying a crash will still happen, compounding the market’s weekend struggles. His tweet has attracted a lot of heat since it went up, as users, many of whom have probably heard him say similar things in previous years, called him out.

Users were quick to remind him in the comment section that the prophecy has yet to happen, even though he has been warning about it for years and has ramped up those warnings since the beginning of the year. President Trump’s 100% tariff announcement in retaliation for China’s escalation of rare earths supply restrictions rocked the S&P 500 and led to record levels of liquidations in crypto markets. Germany and France are also facing their own economic issues.

At home, the US is facing a debt overload with credit card debt at an all-time high and a rising national debt crisis. There is also the endless money printing affecting savings, and Trump’s tariffs and ongoing trade wars are slowing down growth in major economies. With everything going on, it would not be surprising if a crash were to occur. However, many want to hope he is wrong, while others simply refuse to consider the possibility.

The post Robert Kiyosaki says predicted crash will happen this year first appeared on Coinfea.

Global markets experienced a drastic decline early Wednesday in reaction to comments from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and United States President Donald Trump a day earlier, hitting investors across all major asset classes.

As previously reported by Cryptopolitan, Powell warned that “equity prices are fairly highly valued,” with Trump adding more heat by criticizing the Fed’s indecisiveness in a morning briefing. US stock futures failed to register a major move on Tuesday night, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising just 18 points, or 0.04%. S&P 500 futures also added 0.06%, and the Nasdaq 100 rose 0.09%.

The move came after the S&P 500 finally ended a three-day win streak, moving away from record highs. In after-hours trading, Micron Technology rose over 2% thanks to earnings that beat forecasts and a strong outlook. The company’s 46% revenue jump was tied to the AI boom that’s still pulling in cash.

Asian markets decline after Powell and Trump’s unclear rate stance

Asian markets also felt the effects by Wednesday, with Australia’s ASX/S&P 200 dropping 0.92%, closing at 8,764.5. Japan moved in the opposite direction. The Nikkei 225 climbed 0.3% to 45,630.31, and the Topix rose 0.23% to 3,170.45. Japan’s stock rally remains ongoing, even with the present risk. Foreign investors keep pumping money into the market, helped by governance reforms and improving company earnings.

South Korea failed to hold up as the Kospi lost 0.4% to close at 3,472.14. The Kosdaq, packed with smaller names, declined 1.29% to 860.94. Still, defense stocks ignored the pain. Hanwha Aerospace, Korea Aerospace, and Hyundai Rotem all climbed between 2% and 5%. Investors were clearly betting on military tech despite what Powell or Trump said.

Hong Kong markets also followed the same direction as the Hang Seng Index jumped 1.49%. Mainland China’s CSI 300 finished higher at 4,566.07. But that didn’t mean things were calm. Super Typhoon Ragasa tore through the region, bringing violent winds and floods. The Hong Kong Observatory said southern districts and high grounds were facing hurricane-level damage. However, markets remained open and Alibaba’s Hong Kong shares soared more than 6% after CEO Eddie Wu told investors the company was ramping up investment in artificial intelligence.

Commodities and gold register slight increases

Japan’s recovery looks steady but fragile. Real wages and household spending are on the rise. Inflation is finally hovering around the Bank of Japan’s 2% target, and the yen has calmed down after its big crash to 160 per dollar last year. Zuhair Khan, senior fund manager at UBP Investments, said Japan’s strength is tied to “fundamentals and valuations relative to other markets.” The Nikkei 225 now trades at a 23.01 price-to-earnings ratio. Topix sits at 17.46. The S&P 500, by comparison, is floating up at 28.54.

In terms of commodities, spot gold was last seen at $3,778.78 per ounce, up 0.4% after smashing through a record high of $3,830 on Tuesday. US gold futures for December slid 0.1% to $3,812.10. Silver also did not disappoint, rising by 0.5% to $44.23 per ounce, closing in on its highest level in nearly 14 years. Platinum moved 0.4% higher to $1,483.53, and palladium added 0.3% to $1,225.46.

Oil was also involved in the drama, as its prices moved up slightly as traders reacted to falling US crude stockpiles. Brent futures surged by 26 cents to settle at $67.89 per barrel by 0810 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate crude also rose 26 cents, finishing at $63.67, according to data from Reuters. The supply drop gave oil bulls a reason to show up, even if Powell and Trump had just dropped an economic gut punch.

The post Global markets experience decline after Powell, Trump comments first appeared on Coinfea.

Global stocks declined drastically on Monday, as Asia and Europe recorded losses. The decline also spread to the dollar as it dropped to a five-week low, the euro also retreated, and gold climbed to levels not seen since April.

In Asia, traders reacted to the mixed batch of factory data from China. A private gauge of manufacturing activity (the RatingDog index) came in at 50.5 for August, barely signaling growth. That was a slight improvement from July’s 49.5. But the government’s own official PMI, released a day earlier, stayed stuck under 50 at 49.4, up marginally from the previous 49.3.

Both readings showed China’s factory sector is far from recovering in full. At the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s two-day security summit, Chinese President Xi Jinping urged member nations to “strengthen cooperation in artificial intelligence.” Giving his opening address, Xi added that the group should reject what he described as a “Cold War mentality.”

Stocks experience decline as the dollar and gold slump

The Hang Seng index in Hong Kong closed 2.17% higher at 25,617.42, led by a strong showing from Alibaba Group, which jumped 18.58%. CSPC Pharmaceutical Group surged 9.53% and WuXi Biologics rose 8.37%. On the mainland, the CSI 300 gained 0.6% and ended the session at 4,523.71, despite volatile trade. Japan’s Nikkei 225 slid 1.24% to 42,188.79, weighed down by semiconductor losses.

Advantest lost 7.92%, Disco Corporation dropped 7.71%, and Socionext fell 6.32%. The broader Topix also declined 0.39%, finishing at 3,063.19. Meanwhile, in South Korea, the Kospi lost 1.35%, ending at 3,142.93, while the Kosdaq slipped 1.49% to 785. Australia wasn’t spared either. The S&P/ASX 200 dropped 0.51%, closing at 8,927.70. Only India bucked the trend. The Nifty 50 gained 0.66% and the BSE Sensex climbed 0.6% as of early afternoon.

In the United States, Trump took a legal hit on Friday after a Federal Appeals Court ruled that his 2023 “reciprocal tariffs” breached presidential authority. The court declared the sweeping levies on imports from dozens of nations unlawful. Wall Street had ended last week in the red. The S&P 500 fell 0.64% to 6,460.26 but still locked in its fourth straight monthly gain. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.15% to 21,455.55, and the Dow Jones gave up 92.02 points to close at 45,544.88.

All three indexes responded to new inflation readings that showed price pressures remain stubborn. U.S. markets stayed closed Monday for Labor Day. In metals, gold rallied hard. Spot prices hit $3,486.86 per ounce, rising 1.2% as of 0641 GMT. Futures for December delivery moved up 1.1% to $3,554.60. The gains came as traders placed bigger bets on a Fed rate cut this month. Silver broke $40 for the first time since 2011, hitting $40.56. Platinum jumped 1.5% to $1,384.68. Palladium gained 0.8%, reaching $1,118.06.

The post European and Asian stocks decline amid a drop in dollar and gold first appeared on Coinfea.

According to a survey carried out by the Bank of America in June, it found out that money managers are betting hard on foreign equities to deliver the best returns through 2030.

The numbers are not good for the United States, with less than 25% of those surveyed think American assets will lead the pack. Just 5% expect bonds to perform best. The rest are moving their cash outside the US borders.“Less than [one quarter] think US assets will continue to dominate ranked returns,” Bank of America strategist Michael Hartnett spelled it out in the report. Instead, investors are now crowding into emerging markets, Eurozone equities, and banks. The confidence in US stocks has dropped hard, and the reasons aren’t subtle.

International stocks are set to rise as investors move away from the dollar

Since the beginning of 2025, the numbers speak for themselves. The iShares MSCI All-Country World Index ex-US ETF (ACWX) is up 15% this year. The S&P 500? Just 2.6%. That puts ACWX at its highest outperformance versus the S&P 500 since the fund was created in 2008. The rotation out of the US isn’t a theory—it’s already happening. Meanwhile, confidence in the US dollar has collapsed. Investor positioning in the dollar has dropped to the lowest point in over 20 years.

The big driver here is President Donald Trump’s aggressive trade stance. Earlier this year, the White House slapped steep tariffs on imports. Some of those were paused for 90 days during talks with major trade partners, but the threat hasn’t gone away. Uncertainty around trade has made investors question the dollar’s status as a safe place to park money.

That vacuum has pulled capital into gold, which has become the top pick for the third straight month. Harnett said that 41% of investors also ranked gold as their most crowded trade. The long run of the Magnificent 7 tech stocks being the dominant bet is now over, with that trade falling to 23%. That “Magnificent 7” trade had held the top spot for two full years, but it’s officially been dethroned.

According to the rest of the survey, the outlook of the US has really become bad in the eyes of investors. In June, fund managers were most overweight in the Eurozone, EM, and banks, while the biggest underweights were US stocks, the US dollar, and energy. The reallocation is big and sharp and it is not about trimming exposure, it is a clear message that the big money is going elsewhere.

Another issue is that volatility is playing into all this, with tensions in Europe and the Middle East pushing even more capital into defensive trades like gold. But investors aren’t running from all risk—they’re just picking different bets. That’s why global equities, especially in developing markets, are seeing more inflows. Stocks in those regions are cheaper than the US, and right now, that’s more attractive than anything trading at a premium on Wall Street.

The post International stocks predicted to top trade strategy in the next five years first appeared on Coinfea.
