Tokenized commodity adoption continues to expand as more wallets gain exposure to blockchain-based assets.

Recent growth reflects rising demand for tokenized gold, commodity funds, and exchange-traded products.

Meanwhile, newer blockchain networks are attracting holders as established platforms retain most investment capital. The latest figures show how participation across the tokenized commodity market has shifted.

According to RWA.xyz, tokenized commodity holders reached 452,931, compared with approximately 126,000 a year earlier. That represents a 3.6-fold increase, with much of the growth occurring recently.

Since early August, the sector has added 200,000 holders, exceeding the 126,000 gained during the preceding ten months.

ParaFi estimated that PAXG and XAUT holders increased 65% throughout 2025. However, the broader sector recorded 79% growth over the past nine weeks.

These figures represent wallet addresses rather than individual investors, since users can control multiple wallets or hold several tokens.

Tether Gold overtakes Paxos Gold as tokenized commodity holders rise

Tether Gold (XAUT) has emerged as the leading tokenized gold product by holder count, overtaking Paxos Gold (PAXG).

XAUT holders increased from 12,233 last year to 74,544 in August, before reaching 143,973. That represents nearly twelvefold growth, placing XAUT approximately 31,000 holders ahead of PAXG.

Matrixdock Gold follows with 63,922 holders. Together, these three products account for approximately 71% of tokenized commodity wallets.

Meanwhile, tokenized ETFs and stocks from xStocks, Robinhood, Ondo, and STOx have accelerated recent adoption.

Their combined holder count climbed from approximately 21,000 in early August to 105,000. Consequently, their market share increased from 8% to 23%.

Gold xStock recorded particularly strong expansion, rising more than 53-fold from 780 holders to 41,569.

Robinhood’s tokenized SPDR Gold Trust, United States Oil Fund, and iShares Silver Trust collectively account for 40,713 holders. That figure matches Robinhood’s total reported holder count.

Gold still represents approximately 90% of holders. However, oil, silver, copper, and rare-earth products collectively attract roughly 42,000 wallets.

Robinhood’s USO token has 15,211 holders, while Ondo and Robinhood silver products together account for approximately 18,900.

Ondo’s tokenized US Copper Index Fund also expanded from 26 holders in August to 2,371.

Ethereum retains market capital as tokenized commodity adoption expands

Ethereum continues to dominate tokenized commodity valuations despite growing participation across other blockchain networks.

RWA.xyz figures place Ethereum’s distributed market capitalization at $4.92 billion, representing approximately 95% of the sector’s $5.16 billion.

BNB Chain follows with $85.1 million, while Arbitrum holds approximately $83.5 million.

However, holder distribution tells a different story. Ethereum accounts for 183,776 holders, representing approximately 41% of total participation.

BNB Chain has 94,289 holders, followed by Plume with 62,157 and Solana with 62,154. Robinhood accounts for another 40,713.

The figures indicate larger average holdings on Ethereum, while newer networks attract smaller positions.

Arbitrum stands apart, with relatively few holders despite maintaining a valuation close to BNB Chain’s.

Recent wallet growth reflects expanding participation through lower-cost networks and brokerage-linked commodity products, while Ethereum retains most capital.

The post Tokenized commodity holders surge past 450K as adoption accelerates first appeared on Coinfea.

Ethereum is trying to defend the $2,700 level as selling pressure builds across spot and derivatives markets.

ETH trading activity has expanded sharply during the past month, bringing higher volumes and open interest.

However, positioning on Binance now signals stronger selling activity despite the broader market recovery. Rising leverage also leaves Ethereum exposed to liquidation pressure on both sides of the market.

Ethereum selling pressure grows as open interest expands

ETH traded near $2,721.83 on October 5 after recovering from a recent decline to about $2,660. The rebound keeps $2,700 in focus as traders assess whether Ethereum can preserve its recent momentum.

Ethereum open interest continued expanding over the weekend, rising from $18 billion to approximately $18.7 billion. Open interest briefly reached $19.9 billion on October 2, marking its highest level since November 2025.

ETH has not yet returned to open-interest levels recorded before October 10, 2025. Still, derivatives activity has become considerably stronger over the past month.

Ethereum has also improved against Bitcoin after breaking its prolonged downward trend. The ETH/BTC ratio recovered from about 0.019 in April to approximately 0.032 during the past week.

That recovery followed stronger attention toward ETH after its active September trading period. Ethereum also posted its strongest September performance since 2016.

However, Binance positioning suggests selling pressure has continued beneath the price recovery. Recent trading analysis showed Ethereum selling CVD has remained negative since August.

The ratio of ETH selling takers kept going lower, meaning ETH is facing increasing selling pressure, which competes with greed-based trading and more bullish sentiment. | Source: Cryptoquant

The indicator recorded another sharp decline on October 2 alongside renewed selling activity. The continued weakness indicates traders have increasingly favored aggressive selling despite ETH’s broader recovery.

Ethereum sentiment currently stands at 65, placing the market within the greed range. That reading suggests bullish expectations remain present even as selling pressure rises.

Meanwhile, spot markets have also recorded notable distribution. One early Ethereum investor reportedly sold 13,330 ETH from holdings originally acquired during the ICO.

Those tokens initially cost about $0.31 each during Ethereum’s early fundraising period.

Hyperliquid ETH open interest tops Bitcoin as liquidation risks rise

Hyperliquid has emerged as another major source of Ethereum derivatives activity. ETH open interest on the platform has climbed above $3.3 billion.

That total now exceeds Bitcoin’s approximately $3.24 billion in Hyperliquid open interest. Binance remains the larger venue, with around $9.4 billion in Ethereum open interest.

However, Hyperliquid positions create a different liquidation structure because leveraged traders cluster around specific price levels.

Short positions on Hyperliquid show a notable cutoff above $2,800. Binance short positions appear more widely distributed, with heavier positioning near $2,750.

On the downside, many Hyperliquid long positions defend the $2,600 region. Short-side liquidity extends toward $3,000, creating potential pressure if Ethereum advances further.

ETH/USD futures on Hyperliquid recorded about $886 million in daily volume. Bitcoin futures remained higher at roughly $2 billion during the same period.

Around 67% of Ethereum traders on Hyperliquid currently hold long positions. However, some large traders and market makers maintain sizeable short exposure.

Abraxas Capital is among the firms holding large ETH short positions while collecting funding fees.

Ethereum therefore faces liquidation risks in both directions. Short positions could become vulnerable if ETH gains another $100.

Conversely, renewed selling could target leveraged longs and test support near $2,600. For now, Ethereum’s ability to hold $2,700 remains central to the short-term market structure.

The post ETH price defends $2,700 as selling pressure builds first appeared on Coinfea.

Ethereum is expanding its privacy ambitions into artificial intelligence payments through a new system called zkAPI.

The technology aims to separate API payments from user identities when accessing paid AI services. It also seeks to reduce the amount of personal information exposed through conventional accounts and payment credentials. The Ethereum Foundation says the model could support more private access to AI tools and metered digital services.

The Ethereum Foundation developed zkAPI alongside the Open Anonymity Project. The system allows users to pay for AI models and metered APIs without revealing their identity.

Traditional API systems usually connect an API key with an account and payment method. That structure can also link individual requests with a persistent user profile.

The Ethereum Foundation said this approach can expose sensitive information through payment records and prompt histories.

Its zkAPI architecture instead separates payment authorization from identity. Users first deposit ETH or USDC into an Ethereum-based vault contract.

Those funds become a private balance that users can spend across supported services. The payment process does not repeatedly expose account details.

zkAPI uses zero-knowledge proofs for private payments

According to the Ethereum Foundation, zkAPI creates spending authorization directly on the user’s device. The process uses cryptographic notes rather than conventional payment credentials.

A zero-knowledge proof confirms that the user holds sufficient funds without exposing the private note itself. One proof can authorize either one transaction or an entire session.

The system also uses unique serial numbers called nullifiers to prevent double spending. Duplicate nullifiers reveal repeated spending attempts without identifying the user.

Ken Liu, a Stanford computer science PhD candidate working with Open Anonymity, described zkAPI as an extension of unlinkable inference.

He said the system also separates payments from the underlying AI request.

The architecture includes local interfaces for OpenAI and Ollama services. Existing applications, editors, and chat clients can access those tools through localhost.

That structure could reduce the amount of redevelopment required when adding private payment functionality.

Privacy could become increasingly important as AI applications rely more heavily on paid inference and metered services.

Prompts can contain personal information, business strategies, proprietary code or financial data. Linking those requests with persistent accounts can create detailed usage records.

zkAPI aims to break that connection by making payment credentials independent from user identity.

However, broader adoption will depend on developer support, infrastructure performance and demand for privacy-focused AI payments.

Ethereum advances scaling and quantum resistance plans

The Ethereum Foundation is also pursuing wider network improvements through its 2026 protocol priorities.

Those priorities cover network scaling, user experience improvements, and stronger Layer-1 security.

Ethereum developers have started introducing quantum-resistant cryptographic algorithms across the execution and consensus layers.

The long-term roadmap targets full quantum resistance by 2029.

Ethereum also aims to increase network capacity further during 2026. The gas limit target stands above 100 million.

Ethereum educator Anthony Sassano said in November that 180 million would represent an ideal annual target.

Ethereum raised its gas limit to 60 million during 2025 following the Pectra and Fusaka upgrades.

Another major network upgrade, Glamsterdam, is scheduled for October.

The upgrade combines Amsterdam on Ethereum’s execution layer with Gloas on its consensus layer.

Amsterdam will introduce parallel processing for transactions. That approach allows Ethereum to process multiple transactions simultaneously instead of executing them sequentially.

The change forms part of Ethereum’s wider effort to increase throughput while strengthening its underlying infrastructure.

Together, zkAPI and Ethereum’s protocol upgrades show how developers are targeting privacy, scaling, and long-term cryptographic security simultaneously.

The post Ethereum unveils zkAPI for private AI payments first appeared on Coinfea.

Bitcoin and Ethereum closed the third quarter with their strongest performances in years as crypto markets rebounded sharply. Institutional demand returned, while major altcoins also recorded broad gains during the three months.

ETF inflows and improving market sentiment supported the recovery after a difficult first half. Traders now enter Q4 watching Federal Reserve policy, regulation, and Bitcoin’s key support levels.

Bitcoin gained 42.71% between July 1 and September 30, according to CoinGlass data. The advance marked Bitcoin’s strongest third quarter since 2017.

Ethereum performed even better, climbing 70.8% during Q3. The move gave Ethereum its best third-quarter performance on record after two consecutive losing quarters.

The wider altcoin market also strengthened significantly. TOTAL3ES, which excludes Bitcoin, Ethereum and stablecoins, added about $183 billion during the quarter.

Its market capitalization rose roughly 50%, from around $364 billion to nearly $547 billion.

Zcash ranked among the strongest performers, rising more than 260%. Uniswap gained over 200%, while Chainlink nearly doubled during the quarter.

Hyperliquid reached new highs, while Solana posted its strongest three-month period after ten straight losing months. Quant also recorded a sharp rally during the final weeks of Q3.

Bitcoin ETF inflows return as institutional demand recovers

Institutional demand strengthened during Q3 as spot Bitcoin ETFs returned to positive flows.

SoSoValue data showed the funds attracted about $6.49 billion during the quarter. August alone generated approximately $3.52 billion in inflows.

The turnaround followed June, when spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $4.51 billion in outflows.

Q3 also ended three consecutive quarters of net ETF outflows. Total Bitcoin ETF assets increased from $70.95 billion to nearly $108 billion.

Ethereum ETFs followed a similar pattern. The products attracted $3.11 billion during Q3, marking their third-best quarter.

Combined Ethereum ETF assets more than doubled to $17.79 billion.

Corporate treasury buying picked up again too, with Strategy resuming its Bitcoin purchases during the quarter.

However, ETF momentum cooled during September. Bitcoin funds attracted $2.80 billion, below August’s total.

Ethereum ETF inflows slowed to $892 million in September from $1.85 billion during August.

The US Treasury also expanded buybacks of long-dated bonds in August, easing pressure on yields.

Meanwhile, the Securities and Exchange Commission introduced an Innovation Exemption involving tokenized stocks. The move improved market sentiment despite continued uncertainty around the CLARITY Act.

Bitcoin faces $80,000 test before October Fed meeting

Traders now turn toward the Federal Reserve’s October 27-28 meeting as Q4 begins.

A softer-than-expected PCE inflation report on September 30 reduced expectations for an October interest-rate increase. However, upcoming inflation and employment data could change those expectations.

Stronger inflation or jobs data could keep Treasury yields and the dollar elevated. Those conditions have historically created additional pressure for crypto markets.

Bitcoin’s $80,000 level has therefore become an important technical area heading into Q4.

Holding above $80,000 keeps $87,400 and $90,000 as potential upside targets. A sustained break below that support could weaken momentum.

Seasonality also remains supportive for Bitcoin. CoinGlass data shows Bitcoin has recorded a median Q4 return of 26.59% since 2013.

Ethereum’s seasonal record appears weaker. Its median fourth-quarter return stands at only 0.15% over the same period.

Regulation remains another unresolved factor. The CLARITY Act remains stalled in Congress, leaving traders focused on future US crypto legislation.

Any legislative progress could influence whether institutional demand continues through the final quarter of 2026.

The post Bitcoin posts best Q3 since 2017 as Ethereum hits record high first appeared on Coinfea.

Ethereum, the second-biggest crypto, rose by 8.3%, its biggest move in three weeks. Traders who bet against it got burned. Over 24 hours, shorts on Ethereum wiped out more than $255 million. Shorts on Bitcoin, over the same period, saw losses totaling $172 million.

Usually, Bitcoin sees the bigger leverage wipeout, but his time, Ethereum did. The rally came as U.S. markets bounced around after a pile of economic data was released and oil prices fell. It looked a lot like late August. Bitcoin ran higher then, setting off the biggest short-liquidation wave recorded since 2021. On Friday, Ethereum was doing it. The price moved so fast that it looked like traders were chasing the rally more than buyers were piling into spot. A lot of traders had been sitting back since August. After the last big leverage flush, there still had not been much fresh news to bring everyone back.

Ethereum surge wipes out shorts worth over $255 million

According to Coinglass, around $188 million in Ether positions were wiped out in one hour as the price kept climbing. Across crypto, close to $500 million in long and short positions disappeared over the past day. That was one of the biggest totals since Bitcoin’s record short wipeout last month. Binance saw about $76 million in Ether positions liquidated over 24 hours. McCarthy said most were shorts that had to close. Ethereum perpetual futures were also showing negative funding rates. Those contracts are used for leveraged crypto trades.

Where financing costs are below zero, the short-siders on Ether had to pay for their positions, while those on the other side were being paid to take the position. But now that Ethereum has begun moving higher, those shorts have less room to just wait it out. Bitcoin has been rising too. The Bitcoin price has moved by some 20% over the past month, putting it back above $80,000. But 2026 is negative for Bitcoin. It is down close to 10% this year. The coin also went above $81,000 in late August before losing some of those gains.

The rebound came after crypto began recovering from the August 19 liquidation event, one of the biggest leverage blowups the market has seen in recent years. Even that was small next to October 10, 2025, when roughly $19 billion in leveraged crypto positions were wiped out in one day. Bitcoin ETF flows have picked up too. The iShares Bitcoin Trust brought in about $3.5 billion in net inflows over the past month. That left the fund close to even for the year after earlier outflows.

There is another problem with Bitcoin. There has been no clear differentiation of Bitcoin from technology stocks. The correlation data indicates that there is still linkage between Bitcoin and the appetite for risk associated with tech stocks. In cases where investors become scared, the risky positions are trimmed, which might also include Bitcoin. Then there is Washington. The U.S. Senate is expected to hold an important procedural vote next week on the Clarity Act. The bill is supposed to set federal rules for digital assets. Lawmakers have spent most of the year trying to get it through Congress, and it still has not made it over the line.

Coinbase Global (NASDAQ: COIN) CEO Brian Armstrong told CNBC’s “Squawk Box Asia” this week that he thinks the bill will pass after crypto companies, law-enforcement groups and several banks found common ground. Armstrong also said the industry would still have another way forward if Congress does not pass it. “Frankly, if it doesn’t pass, it’s also going to be a good outcome because the SEC and the CFTC have said that they’re ready to publish rulemaking, and we’re going to get regulatory clarity one way or another on the 15th or the day or two after,” he said.

The post Ethereum outperforms crypto market after 8% rally first appeared on Coinfea.

Euro stablecoins reached $848.1 million in supply on September 7, according to Token Terminal data. The total represents growth of about 22.6% from $691.7 million recorded on January 1.

That increase added roughly $156 million in euro-denominated stablecoin supply during the first eight months of 2026.

Dollar stablecoins added about $159 million over the same period, rising from $298.54 billion to $298.699 billion.

The two segments therefore added similar absolute amounts despite the dollar market being roughly 350 times larger.

Dollar stablecoins still dominate overall supply with a 99.5% market share, while euro stablecoins account for 0.3%.

Euro Stablecoin Supply Remains Highly Concentrated

Supply within the euro stablecoin market remains concentrated among a small group of issuers. EURC controls 62.6% of the segment, while EURCV accounts for another 19.6%. Together, the two assets represent 82% of total euro stablecoin supply.

EURI holds a 4.5% share, while EURe represents 3.9%. The remaining 22 euro-denominated assets collectively account for less than 6% of supply.

EURCV is issued by SG-Forge, the digital asset subsidiary of Société Générale. SG-Forge holds electronic money institution approval from France’s ACPR under MiCA.

The asset now represents 19.6% of euro stablecoin supply, placing nearly one-fifth of the market with a licensed European bank subsidiary.

Ethereum and Solana Capture Most New Supply

Ethereum recorded the largest increase in euro stablecoin market capitalization this year. Supply on the network rose from $463.4 million to $588.7 million, an increase of about $125 million. Ethereum now holds 69.4% of the euro stablecoin market.

Solana increased from $94.9 million to $124.9 million and holds a 14.7% share. Combined, Ethereum and Solana added about $155 million, accounting for almost all euro stablecoin growth during the period.

Other networks showed mixed changes. Base declined from $73.9 million to $58.7 million. Gnosis increased to $22.3 million, while BNB Chain rose from $4.1 million to $10.4 million.

Dollar Stablecoin Supply Shows Little Net Growth

Dollar stablecoin supply began the year near $298.5 billion and reached about $298.7 billion by September 7.

The increase was approximately 0.05%, leaving the overall dollar-denominated market largely unchanged during the period.

By comparison, euro stablecoins expanded while the broader stablecoin category saw limited dollar growth.

MiCA has provided European banks and licensed electronic money institutions with a regulated route for issuance.

However, the article’s data shows euro stablecoin supply growth remains concentrated by issuer and blockchain.

Ethereum and Solana absorbed nearly all new supply, while EURC and EURCV continued to dominate the asset mix.

Despite rising issuance, euro pairs remain thin across DeFi lending pools and perpetual collateral markets. Europeans also already hold euros, limiting the offshore-style demand seen for synthetic dollars.

The post Euro Stablecoins Add $156 Million as Dollar Supply Barely Changes first appeared on Coinfea.

Robinhood Chain Drives Record Crypto Revenue

Both token advances connect to Robinhood Chain, which launched about two months ago. The network has become crypto’s largest fee-generating blockchain. Its cumulative decentralized exchange volume has exceeded $40 billion.

Daily network revenue exceeds $4 million. That places Robinhood Chain ahead of Hyperliquid, Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Base. Uniswap and Arbitrum remain closest to the network’s growing revenue.

Uniswap Captures Robinhood Trading Activity

Uniswap serves as Robinhood Chain’s main decentralized exchange and handles nearly all trading activity there. It also collects more from each traded dollar than across its wider deployment.

Uniswap retains 0.465% of every dollar traded on Robinhood Chain. Across other networks, its comparable global rate stands at 0.214%. Tokenized stocks explain the difference because those assets trade through Uniswap’s most expensive fee tiers.

Tokenized stock pairs contributed almost nothing to Robinhood Chain’s volume during August. Their share has now increased to approximately 4.1%, strengthening fee collection.

Previously, liquidity providers received the fees while UNI remained outside that economic cycle. The UNIfication upgrade changed that structure by activating the fee switch. Collected fees now fund UNI purchases and burns, permanently reducing circulating supply.

Increased Robinhood usage creates more Uniswap trading volume and fee income. Those fees then support larger UNI purchases and permanent token burns.

Arbitrum Receives Contractual Revenue Share

ARB’s link to Robinhood Chain follows a different structure. The network uses Arbitrum technology and participates in the Arbitrum Expansion Program. Under that agreement, Robinhood Chain returns 10% of net protocol revenue.

The allocation sends 8% to the Arbitrum DAO treasury and 2% to the developer guild. By early September, the first 30 days had generated about $1.32 million through this arrangement.

That amount remained small beside the $78.73 million Uniswap collected from Robinhood Chain trading fees. Arbitrum’s allocation also enters a DAO-governed treasury instead of passing directly to ARB holders.

The revenue concentration creates a new dependency for Uniswap. Although it operates across dozens of blockchains, two-thirds of fee revenue comes from one network. Robinhood controls that chain while remaining accountable to shareholders and the SEC.

The concentration ties activity supporting UNI burns to Robinhood’s swap routing, fee structures, and regulatory conditions. Robinhood Chain continues setting volume records as burn activity rises and both tokens reflect stronger market demand.

The post UNI Price Jumps 39% as Robinhood Chain Sets Volume Records first appeared on Coinfea.

In an update issued on Friday, Trezor revealed that the data leak from its shipping partner, ShipMonk, was worse than previously believed. Specifically, the personal information, which includes names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and order data, of another 67,000 users in the U.S. had been exposed.

Presently, the total number of users whose data may have been compromised is 80,700. This makes holders of Trezor wallets at risk. The new batch of data involves orders placed by U.S. customers between November 2019 and August 2021, as Trezor wrote in the post on X made on Friday. Notably, some of that information is nearly seven years old. That is relevant because back in August, when Trezor announced the data leak, the 90-day data deletion policy implemented by its fulfillment partner was credited with limiting the number of impacted users.

Trezor highlights impact of the data exposure

The company explained that it had asked ShipMonk multiple times to provide documentation showing that the order data older than 90 days was deleted. Every time, the company received positive answers to those requests. Now, Trezor expressed disappointment about the fact that those documents turned out to be incorrect. According to reports, Trezor placed the blame squarely on the shipping provider for keeping data it had promised to delete.

The new figures eclipse the old by a great deal. Back in August, Trezor estimated exposure to the breach to 14,000 people. However, ShipMonk reported findings to Trezor two days prior to its disclosure on Friday. That brings the tally up to around 80,700 users. Trezor clarified that its systems have not been compromised; no devices, private keys, or wallet backups were exposed, as the breach was conducted purely from the logistics end. Information, such as customer contact details and shipping, was compromised.

The danger here lies in targeting. The leak of a mailing list with verified owners of hardware wallets, including the addresses where crypto users reside, lets hackers target those exact people for phishing attempts via email, phone calls, and even snail mail. Trezor advised the affected users to be wary of such attempts and also highlighted the threat to personal safety. The threat is very real. In February, owners of Trezor and Ledger wallets received forged letters printed with holograms, QR codes, and even fake signatures of executives urging them to perform a fake security test or be locked out of their accounts.

As noted by cybersecurity expert David Sehyeon Baek, a forged letter delivered with a real name and address changes the psychology of the scam. An impersonation scam does not necessarily require an exploit to steal from a user’s wallet. In fact, it is such scams that are already dominating cryptocurrency loss figures. Blockchain cybersecurity firm Hacken found that phishing and social engineering scams made up $306 million of the $482 million total amount stolen within the first quarter of the year.

One investor nearly lost $1 million by confirming a malicious token transaction on Ethereum in July. Moreover, this is not the first time Trezor has faced a breach involving exposed user contact details. In January 2024, the company revealed that around 66,000 customers who have contacted its support team since December 2021 were exposed to phishing scams.

The post Trezor accuses ShipMonk of withholding data it promised to delete first appeared on Coinfea.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has published the third part of his cryptographic obfuscation series on Friday. He examined a method called “local mixing” that throws out lattices and elliptic curves in favor of ideas lifted from hash function design.

Buterin had published Part I on June 29, and the second one, which is the diamond iO writeup, was published on July 28. In those publications, he touched on lattice-heavy constructions. With local mixing, Buterin said that it is “a totally different way of doing cryptography.” In his post, he wrote that local mixing has no elliptic curves, no prime factorization, and no lattices anywhere in the design. According to Buterin, the closest relative to local mixing is symmetric cryptography, which is the discipline behind everyday encryption and hashing.

Buterin details the process involved in local mixing

The local mixing process starts with a circuit made of logic gates such as XOR, AND, and NOT that goes through a pipeline that keeps the output identical while it scrubs away any trace of the internal logic. Buterin wrote that local mixing goes through the following original circuit, adding reversibility, hardening, gadgetization, mixing, and finally obfuscation. During mixing, junk gates are scattered through the circuit. The arrangement is then shuffled, and it swaps out small blocks for different gates that compute the same thing.

However, it is not enough on its own, and that is why the other steps are important, as they do most of the work. Reversibility comes first because it makes the rest possible. Buterin explains that a reversible gate can be rewritten as an arbitrary pile of other reversible gates with matching behavior. This is harder to do with an AND or an OR. Buterin still called local mixing a “wild and risky bet,” writing that it sits on “a graveyard of failed attempts at white-box cryptography.”

Meanwhile, he pointed out that the authors of local mixing say that more efforts, along with a willingness to accept higher overhead, could make the idea hold. One proposed shortcut is artificial intelligence, as it could compress the three decades of hash functions needed to mature into a span of a few years. However, it moves away from the lattice-based routes, where the trade-off was security assumptions. Buterin called obfuscation the “final boss of cryptography” in his June publication, and he called it “the final frontier of cryptography” in this latest publication.

He said the most rigorous constructions carry “literally galactic” runtimes, longer than the lifetime of the universe. A program can be turned into an encrypted version that still runs on ordinary inputs using obfuscation. Here, ordinary outputs are returned while hiding their code. When obfuscation is paired with a blockchain, it gets close to a “trustless trusted third party” that enables things like private, collusion-resistant voting with no M-of-N committee to trust.

The post Vitalik Buterin discusses ‘local mixing’ in third part of obfuscation series first appeared on Coinfea.

SanDisk (SNDK) perp contract on Binance has surpassed two of the largest crypto assets, Bitcoin and Ether, in trading volume. The TradFi asset SNDK attracted more than $7.38 billion in volume over the past 24 hours.

During that period, BTC and ETH saw only $6.11 billion and $4.57 billion, respectively, according to Binance market data. This wasn’t a sudden move, actually. As of August 17, SNDK was the third-biggest perp on Binance, with a 24-hour trading volume of around $3.71 billion. As of then, the stock contract carried $1.73 billion in open interest, 1.86 times SPCX’s $928 million and 3.51 times SKHX’s $493 million.

SDNK flips BTC and ETH in trading volume

SDNK pushed to a high of $1,693 earlier today before settling at $1,641 at the time of writing. The price has risen over 35% from the $1,213 low in less than two weeks. It appears that interest in stock perpetuals is beginning to overshadow that in major altcoins, at least on Binance, based on trading volume. Of all the top 10 traded perpetual contracts on Binance in the last 24 hours, half were TradFi contracts.

Following SNDK are SKHYNIX with $2.48 billion in volume, KORU at $1.84 billion, SOXL at $1.82 billion, and SPCX at $1.35 billion, according to Binance market data at the time of writing. Binance began introducing tokenized stocks in June under the bStock program, which is now the second-largest issuer of tokenized stocks by market cap, per earlier reporting by Cryptopolitan.

On August 13, bStock recorded a market cap of up to $610.6 million, or 22.1% of the entire sector, surpassing xStocks at $601.2 million. Ondo Finance led with $951.8 million and a 34.4% share.

The post Binance SDNK contract surges above BTC and ETH in trading volume first appeared on Coinfea.
